World Monitor

Trust and corrections

World Monitor labels how widely a story is covered, never whether it is true. This page explains the labels, shows how many stories carry each one today, and lists every recent change to a label in the open.

    How the labels work

    Corroborated
Two or more independent publisher families carry the story, not all of them tier 4. Outlets with one owner count once.
    Single publisher
One publisher family carries it. That says nothing about whether it is wrong; many true stories start with one outlet.
    Tier 4 only
Two or more families carry it, but every one is a declared aggregator or blog.
    Not enough evidence
The digest could not tell who carries it. An undeclared tier is never treated as tier 4.
    Source tiers
1 wire services and official bodies, 2 major outlets, 3 specialist, regional and think-tank sources, 4 aggregators and blogs. The tier table.
    CRED score
A 0–100 credibility score built from propaganda risk (half), source tier and independent corroboration: low below 40, medium 40–69, high from 70. State-controlled outlets are capped at 40. How it is calculated.

Corrections to datasets and methods are listed in the revision and corrections log.

A person reviews every report; nothing changes automatically. If a reviewer accepts it, only their public note appears in the list above. Your message and email are never published and are deleted after 90 days.
